The surge is coming say most experts. Let’s not get complacent. Please continue to wash your hands frequently, self-isolate as much as possible, keep a safe social distance when out. Remember when you’re out at the local grocery store or handling money, or getting your mail, any surface could carry the virus. –

The “I am OIC” program started a few years ago and continues to be a powerful way for our clients, staff, donors and volunteers to express why they are a part of the OIC family. The following is a story submitted by Donna as she recounts her many impressive achievements she attained after graduating from CCOIC:
“My name is Donna Brown and I am a Supervisor at the Chester County Adult Probation, Parole and Pretrial Services in West Chester, PA. I am a 1984 graduate of CC-OIC. I went on to Immaculata University and received my B.S. in Business and Psychology. I worked as an Adult Parole Officer with Chester County for 14 years, working in a variety of programs like Veteran’s Court, Drug Court, and the Women’s Reentry Assessment Program before becoming a Supervisor. I entered into the workforce with Servistar Corporation and I ended up working as a Corrections Officer and then later transitioned to a Correctional Counselor at the Chester County Prison. I also spent time as an Intensive Case Manager for Human Services, Inc. I am a Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving 6 years with an Honorable Discharge in 1988. I live in Coatesville area with my husband, Joseph. I love CC-OIC because I went from being a CC-OIC graduate to a Board Member!”

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is a 2-day
empirically based courage-building and leadership development program
designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.
Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she
holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The
Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades
studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently
completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author
of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection,
Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead,
which also debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s
Weekly lists.
The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that
courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable,
measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on
developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings,
and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from
armored leadership to daring leadership. The Dare to Lead™ curriculum lies within leadership competency content and many times it will count towards CEUs.
Individuals who successfully complete the full 16-hour Dare to Lead
program will receive a certificate of completion and are allowed to put a
Dare to Lead™ Trained badge on their LinkedIn account.
The “Dare to Lead” Workshop focuses on 4 Courage Skill sets:
The “I am OIC” program started a few years ago and continues to be a powerful way for our clients, staff, donors and volunteers to express why they are a part of the OIC family. The following is a story submitted by Chris as he recounts his experience volunteering with OIC and networking with others:
“I came to the OIC in mid-January seeking to volunteer. I just went through a very close and competitive campaign for District Judge and one of my campaign issues was to have our court system better support our veterans. I made a promise that no matter what the outcome of the election, I was going to dedicate some time towards veterans to help eradicate the many barriers they face in the civilian world.
Since that time I have been fortunate enough to meet numerous veterans and hear their stories. My partner (Karen Newman) and I have traveled extensively and enrolled dozens of veterans into our HVRP program. More importantly, we have actually made a positive impact in their lives by providing them with employment, training and various services. As a veteran, I feel fortunate to help those fellow veterans who I know would do the same for me had our circumstances been different. I feel grateful to have this opportunity to make a real difference for our vets and our community. It’s a wonderful feeling to not only commemorate our veterans but to actually commit to them and their needs. The OIC made this amazing experience a reality. I am successful because… I am OIC!”
