Allied Health Program Grad Tara Surprises Herself!

When Tara enrolled in Chester County OIC’s Allied Health program, she didn’t know quite what to expect. She’d spent her earlier years working in office settings and raising her children. In recent years, she was a Home Health Aide. Because she didn’t have the computer experience of many of her classmates, she worried she was at a disadvantage. The technology felt overwhelming at first – she even considered dropping out after day two!

Thanks to her own persistence – and thanks to the strong support and encouragement from Chester County OIC and her classmates – she stuck with the program. Not only did she complete the 12-week course, she passed the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) tests with flying colors. She now has a useful set of computer skills to add to her certified medical assistant training credentials. Tara surprised herself and became an inspiration to all of us. She looks forward to using her skills and credentials to advance in the health care field.

Chester County OIC’s Workforce Reintegration Program helps people like Kenneth achieve career and life goals.

Kenneth graduated from our Sustainable Energy Technology Program in 2025. He’d been out of work for some time, caring for his sick child, yet he needed more income for his family. His aunt introduced him to Chester County OIC, and he enrolled in the Sustainable Energy program where he gained his OSHA 30 certification and other transferable skills. After the program, he worked for Goodwill. Later through us, he learned about opportunities at ChesCo Connect. Our team helped him renew his driver’s license and we provided resume assistance. Kenneth told us he did well in his interview and landed the job.

With nine months under his belt, he says his favorite part of working with ChesCo Connect is giving back and making connections with his regular

riders — people needing trips to dialysis and babies and young children going for medical treatment. Kenneth’s goals are to work for ChesCo Connect for another 3-5 years, then pursue a job delivering medical equipment. We wish Kenneth the very best with his next steps!
