2017 Single Mother's Conference - April 22,2017

Career-Corps staffed a table at the 2017 Single Mother's Conference at B. Reed Henderson High School in West Chester. The annual conference helps single mothers to connect with resources in Chester County. Many attendees stopped by the table to get information about CCOIC and Career-Corps.

On Monday, January 16, CCOIC held a Day of Service for the community, “Health & Wellness in the Workplace”. & CCOIC staff, Career-Corps staff and participants and guests from the West Chester Community attended. Guest presenters included: Jackie Josephson who spoke on Goalsetting and Aquilla Wells, RD and her team spoke on Nutrition, Fitness and Healthy Lifestyles. Rosalie McHoul RN, BSN and Robert Caulk, LPN volunteered their nursing skills to provide free blood pressure and diabetes screening. Thanks to St Paul’s Baptist Church of West Chester, our MLK Day partner whose volunteers delivered hot lunches for all.

On Thursday, June 30, 2016 CCOIC held a graduation ceremony and celebration to recognize the 28 men and women who achieved a GED this year. Kudos to all of our instructors and tutors for helping the graduates take a major step forward! Many of the graduates attended the event at the PA CareerLink-Chester County in Exton, PA and were cheered on by their families and friends. Great work, Graduates! We wish you success in all your future endeavors!

What a fine time we had on Sunday. April 3rd! That's what everyone is saying and I believe it must be true. Lots of good people, great music and fine food sprinkled with a touch of drama ... Maya, that is.

We so appreciate you sharing your Sunday afternoon with us and making our dreams come true the first time out of the gate with this sort of event.

Special thanks to the Shamika Byrd Trio and the West Chester Community Performers for the superb entertainment. Thanks to Jimmy Davis Catering for the fine food selection. Most of all -- Thank You! Yes the temperature outside was a bit nippy, the wind a bit harsh ... but you came out anyway as the pictures clearly show!

Lots of Jazz and a Little Maya! A success worth repeating. Thank you for attending. See you next year! (Oh! And bring friends!)
